Contact Lens Exams in Ahwatukee, Phoenix

Contacts That Fit Your Eyes and Your Life

New to contacts or ready to update your prescription? Our optometrists in Ahwatukee, Phoenix evaluate your eye health, vision and lens fit, and discuss options for your comfort and daily routine.

Contact Lens Exams and Fittings for Your Needs

A contact lens exam involves more than updating a glasses prescription. Your optometrist evaluates eye health, vision and lens fit, then discusses suitable options for your prescription and daily routine. Whether you are new to contacts or already wear them, tell us what you would like to improve.

What Will Your Doctor Evaluate?

Your visit includes a discussion of your current lenses, comfort, health history and vision needs. Your doctor determines which examinations and measurements are appropriate. These may include a prescription assessment, examination of the front of the eye and measurements of the cornea. Additional testing or imaging may be recommended based on your needs; ask what is included and whether there are separate fees.

Contact lens fitting is an additional assessment alongside a comprehensive eye examination. Your doctor reviews how suitable lenses fit and how you see through them, and explains any recommended follow-up.

Discuss Your Contact Lens Options

Depending on your eyes and prescription, options may include daily disposable or reusable soft lenses, toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal contacts, or rigid gas-permeable lenses. Wearing and replacement schedules depend on the prescribed lens. Learn about our contact lens options.

If your child’s prescription is changing, ask about myopia management. If you have keratoconus or difficulty with your current lenses, tell us when requesting your visit so we can help arrange an appropriate keratoconus contact lens evaluation.

Preparing for Your Contact Lens Exam

  • Bring your current glasses and your contact lens boxes or prescription details, if available.
  • Bring a medication and eye-drop list, insurance information, and details of previous eye conditions or treatments.
  • Tell us about dryness, blurry vision, comfort concerns and the activities for which you use your lenses.
  • Ask our team whether to wear your lenses to the appointment and how much time to allow, particularly if you are new to contacts.

Lens Care, Follow-Up and Fees

Your doctor and team will explain the prescribed wearing routine, lens care and any follow-up visits. New wearers can discuss learning to insert and remove their lenses. Ask about examination and fitting fees, trial lenses, follow-up charges and the terms of any replacement policy before proceeding. VSP and EyeMed benefits vary by plan; our team can help check your eligibility and explain applicable benefits.
